Resting on the southern slope of Serra da Estrela, is the village of Cortes do Meio, which is home to the magnificent Serra Tourist Resort.
Serra da Estrela is stunning all year round. It is a white paradise in winter, but quickly transforms into flowering fields and lush trails, ready for refreshing baths in natural lagoons. Always with the unique hospitality of the region.
It is in Cortes do Meio that the Empreendimento Turístico Serra is located, which was once taken care of by two caretakers who took care of large fields of fruitful crops that were seen by all the people of Cortes who wanted to taste the fruits and vegetables.
The people of the land, in their daily lives, traveled fifteen kilometers on foot towards the city of Covilhã, to make all the work invested in the village’s fields yield. The caretakers only cultivated for their own supply and to supply the owners of the fields, but the one who accompanied them was their faithful burrita, who transported all the merchandise and who lived in one of the houses where the fruits and vegetables were stored to supply the families.
This burrita’s house is now SERRA’s reception, a place that will always be ready to welcome you in order to create good memories. There, you will be able to find varied regional products that will immortalize the memories of this space, because, as the people say: “to remember is to live”.
